As we speak I’m getting ready for my fiance(Katie) to arrive here in Reno. She actually found a job out here so she’ll be able to live out here with me. What a lot of people don’t know or understand about professional sports is the sacrifice that athletes make for their family. I shouldn’t say we even make the sacrifice because really our family is getting the bad end of the deal. Long hours with changing of time zones. Let’s just say that our cell phones are being put to good use. Being thousands of miles away from your family and friends I definitely wish that I could say that i’m always in a good mood after games. It takes patience from both sides to say the least.
Like I talked about in my last post about going to Nashville and Memphis. It was great to be able to see my parents. I haven’t seen my mom since before spring training! It was nice to be able to go out to dinner with them and just enjoy their company. I’m not sure when i’ll see them again, hopefully soon.
I’ve been in triple A for about a month and a week now and I have to say that I’m really enjoying myself. I absolutely love the big cities that we gone to thus far. Seems like there’s always something going on or something to do. I’ve ate some amazing food! Especially in Memphis and Nashville. Holy Barbecue! As you can tell I love to eat.

Well, I can’t explain how good it feels to finally be back out on the field and starting up my 2012 season. For those of you who don’t know, I broke my hamate bone back in spring training. I rehabbed for several weeks until the doctor finally cleared me to work out.
Finally, on Thursday, May 10 I flew up to Appleton, Wisconsin and made it in time to make the lineup that night.
It was a really long day of traveling but still the rush of being in a game again took over and wiped away all the fatigue/ jet lag. I didn’t get a hit that first night, but it was great to be back with my teammates and get back to playing.
This last week we went on the road and played the Kane County Cougars, the Kansas City affiliate. They had a pretty good turnout of fans at that ballpark, and my bat got going there as well. I hit my first home run of the season in the last game of the series.
Two of the days were field trip days for local schools so I definitely got my fair share of the Spongebob song. Once we finished up that four-game series we hit the road and got back to Appleton for a nice seven-game home stand.
It’s been a very exciting past week with being in the line up every day and getting the opportunity to go out and play the game of baseball daily.
I can’t explain how blessed I feel especially since the game was taken away from me for a few weeks.
Well that’s it for now from Appleton. I’ll try and get another blog out before we hit the road for the two week long road trip!
In the meantime, see you on Twitter at @N_Ram3314! Tweet at me and I’ll tweet back!
Hey there everybody, it’s Tucker Barnhart again. I hope you are all doing great and enjoyed reading my first entry. I’m hoping to bring more to the table in this second post, so all of you can get to know me a little better off the field.
The game of baseball can be very rigorous at times and for me it’s my golf game that gets me away from everything, and provides a sense of relief from the stresses that I go through. On the 30th of last month my Bakersfield Blaze teammate Chris Berset enoyed our first off day with a nice round of golf in Bakersfield, aka “the Bake” To say that I’m a good golfer may be a bit of a stretch, but on this day I played out of my mind, shooting a 2 over 74. It was one of those days where I could not miss, even the bad shots that I hit ended up with a good result. I thoroughly enjoy getting out on the course and if I had my druthers I’d be out there everyday.
When it comes to relaxing off the field and getting away from the game, I also love to take in an Indiana Pacers game. During the off-season I like to go to as many games as possible, but during the season I have to rely on the NBA League Pass on my computer to get the job done. Now saying I’m just a fan of the Pacers might be an understatement… I LOVE the Pacers. I’m battling it out with some guys on the team now taking a couple friendly wagers for a free dinner with the likely series between the Heat and Pacers coming up in the next week or so (please wish me luck).
Hey everyone, just checking in. We (Reno Aces AZ AAA) just finished up an 8 game home stand, and lets just say that runs were not at a premium. I feel bad for the PCL pitchers because the ball absolutely flies out here!! To say the least I’m not complaining.
We’ve got a great team here in Reno. I’ve only been here for three weeks and I’ve really enjoyed the characters that are on this team. With so many games to be played you lean on those guys heavily for comic relief. They know how this game can weigh on an individual as it can on a team. I feel that it’s a must to have those type guys to keep a team running at its best.
Looking ahead to this week we head east to Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee for four games a piece. I can’t wait to get out there. I’m from Springfield, Ohio so for me, it’s the closest that I’ll get to home. Both locations are only a short drive for friends and family to come down. I can’t wait to see them all! It’s been 3 months since I last saw them! Don’t get me wrong, getting drafted by Arizona was awesome, but most of the farm teams that I’ve played for have been out West. It will be nice to be close to home and see the family.
I appreciate you reading my blog. If you want to follow me on a day to day basis. Follow me @AdamSpankyEaton. Yeah… I know Spanky? What is that? That’s for another day’s blog. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
Hey there everyone!
Well so far its been a very exciting week for me. I’ve been cleared from the doctor to start participating in everything in a normal work out and the hand is feeling great! I’ve taken a few batting practices out on the field and can’t say that I have lost any of my “pop” haha!
But on the other hand not taking any ground balls for 5 weeks will definitely catch up to you. Let’s just say I was a little rusty the first couple days, but it’s like riding a bike, eventually it all comes back.
Today will be the first day in about five and a half weeks that I will be in a game and face some live pitching. I’m excited, can’t even describe my feelings right now. Everyone that I have talked to about my injury says, “wow you’re already healthy from it, that flew by!”
Well maybe it flew by to them but to me, it couldn’t have gone any slower. I’m hoping to get in a couple games here in Arizona and then be shipped out to an affiliate.
Meanwhile since I’ve had a good amount of downtime, Ive had plenty of opportunity to catch up on some ps3 games and have created countless numbers of cleats on NikeID.com. That could possibly be one of the best ways to pass time. I’m waiting to break these out in Wisconsin!
Well that’s it from me here in Arizona, everyone take care.
