Hey there everyone, long time no talk, I hope you all are doing great. It has been a hectic couple of weeks in Bakersfield for the Blaze. Going into the first of June we were 3.5 games back in the Cal League North Division, and now on the 10th of June we are 2.5 games up of the San Jose Giants with 8 games to play in the first half. I apologize the gap between posts, but it is time to get back at it.
A lot has happened since I blogged last. The Pacers lost their series to the Heat, a lot of baseball games have been played, and of course the MLB draft took place. In 2009 I went through the same feeling that all of the guys drafted had and it is something that I will, and I’m sure all the other guys, will never forget.
For me it was something that I had dreamed and worked toward since I could remember… such a humbling experience. I wish all of the new draftees the best of luck, especially all my good friends that have been fortunate enough to be put in a situation to further their baseball careers at the professional level.
As I touched on a little earlier, the Bakersfield Blaze are right in the middle of a heated playoff race in the California League North Division with the San Jose Giants. I have been fortunate enough to play with a great core group of guys throughout my professional career, from Billings to Dayton and then from Dayton to Bakersfield where we have always been in the thick of things when it comes to the playoffs, and this year is no different.
Last but not least, for the Pacers and Miami Heat series, it was definitely tough for me to see the Heat walk in and beat the Pacers in Indianapolis (note: I’m originally from Indiana). The Heat are such a talented team, and as a basketball fan in general you can’t help but enjoy watching LeBron James play the game. He truly is the best player in the NBA in my opinion, and definitely someone the Thunder are going to have trouble with in the Finals.
But it was a great season for the Pacers and as you can see from the photo, the fans were awesome in their support of the team!
Thank you all for reading and again I apologize for the gap in posts, but for day to day updates you can always follow me on twitter @Tucker_Barnhart. Remember to go out and take the best out of everything you do. Be easy everyone.
Hey there everybody, it’s Tucker Barnhart again. I hope you are all doing great and enjoyed reading my first entry. I’m hoping to bring more to the table in this second post, so all of you can get to know me a little better off the field.
The game of baseball can be very rigorous at times and for me it’s my golf game that gets me away from everything, and provides a sense of relief from the stresses that I go through. On the 30th of last month my Bakersfield Blaze teammate Chris Berset enoyed our first off day with a nice round of golf in Bakersfield, aka “the Bake” To say that I’m a good golfer may be a bit of a stretch, but on this day I played out of my mind, shooting a 2 over 74. It was one of those days where I could not miss, even the bad shots that I hit ended up with a good result. I thoroughly enjoy getting out on the course and if I had my druthers I’d be out there everyday.
When it comes to relaxing off the field and getting away from the game, I also love to take in an Indiana Pacers game. During the off-season I like to go to as many games as possible, but during the season I have to rely on the NBA League Pass on my computer to get the job done. Now saying I’m just a fan of the Pacers might be an understatement… I LOVE the Pacers. I’m battling it out with some guys on the team now taking a couple friendly wagers for a free dinner with the likely series between the Heat and Pacers coming up in the next week or so (please wish me luck).
